To mark the end of this year of “The African Jubilee” I bring this article in which I try to evaluate the extent to which the “most successful” economic development models followed in other parts of the developing world at the time of the first African independences – namely by the East Asian (in particular Taiwan and South Korea) and the Latin American (in particular Mexico and Brazil) Newly Industrialised Countries (NICs) - could successfully be applied by any poor nation, specifically in Africa.
Happy New Year Mama Afrika!
