A Little Tour of Washington…
Before The Inauguration*
Before The Inauguration*
Quinton and Douglas
Two typical Americans they had just left their office for a few minutes to go to the terrace to witness the stage being set-up where President Elect Barack Obama will deliver his speech.
Both proud of their achievement; bringing an intelligent African-American man into the top position of the Executive Branch of the United States of America’s government.
Many Americans are very proud and showing off particularly to Europeans that when they want they execute, without hesitation. Lately, some European residents have been teasing them by repeating Churchill’s quote “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing after they have tried everything else”. The “everything else” means Bush and his Iraq war.
Now, it is Europe’s turn to show how open minded they can be, and express the diversity of the population at all social levels and institutions particularly Portugal one of the World’s first Colonizer’s!
Portable-potties
I had never seen so many portable-potties at once. They are all over around the Capitol and Smithsonian area. In the preparation for the Inauguration, these were what impressed me the most. Everyday of last week, I saw huge long trucks carrying them. I wonder how the area will smell after the event.
Capitol
Just imagine that tomorrow this area will be crowded with perhaps a couple million of people.
Leaving Washington D.C.
Entering Virginia. Ahead the memorial created in memory of the 11/09/2001 attack Pentagon victims.
