All throughout the grueling campaign for the London Mayorship, he was called things like ‘Boris the joker’, 'Boris the womaniser', ‘Boris the racist’, 'Boris the homophobic’, ‘Boris the drinker’, in short, all possible equivalents to ‘Boris the not to be taken seriously’! But, since yesterday, he is undoubtedly Boris The Winner, having ‘deposed’ Ken Livingstone.
Poor Ken, he had done so well in his first two campaigns as an independent against New Labour, but in this one fell for the 'deadly embrace' of his seemingly moribund "former party" and paid dearly for it. I would say that he is the first big casualty of the so far all but disastrous Brown Premiership – and this saddens me because I really expected much more and better from him…
Now, I don’t know at all what to expect from Boris Johnson, but I’m sure it will be fun to watch! Just hope it won’t be too painful…

Here's how I'm planning to deal with it:
Enjoy the fun, ignore the pain.
;)
That's a sensible strategy!
Provided that the pain comes to be 'ignorable'...
:-)
Nick @ good strategy but yes what if the pain is just too much - like having a tooth removed sin anesthetic - a great big huge massive ouch, I would think. It depresses me and I cant bear thinking about it / him.
Sokari,
I know what you mean, but one thing I believe Boris will never be given the chance to be called, as Mayor of London, is “the dictator!”
I mean, Labour may have lost this election overall but they still kept many important constituencies in London, not to mention the Lib-Dems and all the other parties. Above all, I don’t believe multicultural/multiethnic Londoners will let Boris just get away with anything – they/we will act as the anaesthetic you’re talking about!
I hope this helps to allay your worries…
Cheers!
